Discussion

This is a completely preservated Cornuproetus with a central length of 41mm and a maximum width of 28,5mm. The photos were shot at typically Waldbronnish 'Knalle Sonne' ;-)

Cephalon (length 13,0mm, max. width 25,9mm) typically parabolic; significant ophistoparian sutures; border with complete border furrow (anterior); cheeks ending in sabre- like spines; glabella strongly vaulted (length 8,1mm, max. width 7mm), slightly tapering forward and strongly falling off anterior; frontal border present, limited by border furrow; glabella typically pustelous; occipital ring L0 pustelous with deep and well articulated occipital furrow S0; basal lobe L1 recognizable; significant palpebral lobes; eyes holochroal, convex; free cheeks well articulated, deep posterior border furrow; fixigenae small.

Thorax (length 23,1mm, max. width 22,4mm) pustelous; rachis convex; 10 thoracic segments; pleures distal significantly falling off, ending in spines; pleural furrows present; dorsal furrow adumbrated.

Pygidium middle sized; 5 segments; pleural furrows well articulated.

Discussion

This little guy (the 3rd trilobite of my collection at the beginning of Trilobitamania) gives a new definition to the term "gnubbelig" ;-)))

With his proud total length of 23mm and a max. width of 15,5mm, this little guy enthrones on the top of his steaning throne.

The cephalon with a  max. length of 8,8mm and a max. width of 15,5mm is dominated by a relative huge and vaulted glabella; glabella is extended to the anterior border; it's tapering forwards and pustelous; occipital ring L0 significant with deep furrow S0; anterior glabellar furrows adumbrated from the left; holochroal eyes, relative big and convex; palpebral lobes clearly marked; eye furrows pesent; Librigenae highly developed; little narrow fixigenae; genal angle tapering, without spine; ophistoparian sutures articulated, anterior slightly converging; significant rounding fringe; border furrow present.

The thorax has a length of 11,5mm and a max. width of 13,7mm; 10 segments; rachis strongly vaulted; dorsal furrows present; pleures distally falling; pleures blunt.

Middle sized pygidium; 5 pleural furrows clearly marked.
